Confucianism was discovered by a philosopher named Confucius(551-479 BC) in the 5th and 6th Centuries in China. Confucius taught the people five ideas about behavior and they are: respect your ancestors, try for harmony and balance in all things, avoid extremes in behaviors and emotion, if you live in peace and harmony, then you will be in contact with the spiritual forces of the universe, including nature, and always be considerate to others. In addition to these five ideas about behavior, he also taught five virtues and they are: kindness, righteousness, sobriety, wisdom, and trustworthiness. Confucius felt that the idea of reciprocity should guide all actions, basically do unto others as you wish done unto you, and so he created these guides to help people obtain reciprocity. Confucianism was spread through volunteer missionaries and has spread to China, Vietnam, and Korea.
